A61 - Checks of the Sunday driving ban

The journey had to be stopped three times: After checks of the Sunday driving ban this morning by the control team for commercial goods and passenger transport of the Traffic Directorate Mainz, three vehicles or teams now have to take a break. In Germany, both trucks over 7.5t and trucks with trailers, regardless of tonnage, are not allowed to drive for commercial use on Sundays between 0 and 22 hours.
Exceptions to this are, for example, for easily perishable fruit and vegetables or fresh meat/fish or upon request.

However, the controlled transports did not fall under any of the exceptions and no exemption permit was available either.

In one case, wine was transported by a semi-trailer and in two cases, trade fair components were transported in small transporters with trailers.

But that's not all: the trade fair builders did not have tachographs installed in the vehicles, which would have been necessary in this case. Therefore, the further journey was also prohibited for this reason.

Fine proceedings will now follow against the drivers and the companies behind them.
