Four driving bans in four hours

On Thursday evening (16.01.2025), there were four incidents in the area of the Barth police station, where the accused or affected individuals were driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. A 61-year-old German man drove into the parking lot of a discount store around 6:00 PM.
Among others, an employee of the store noticed that the man was apparently intoxicated - he promptly alerted the Barth police station. The officers immediately dispatched were then able to identify the driver in oncoming traffic. An alcohol test carried out on him then showed a value of just over 2 per mille. A blood sample was taken by a doctor, and his driver's license was confiscated. In this context, the driving license authority was informed, and he was prohibited from continuing his journey.

Furthermore, a 30-year-old German man initially came to the Barth police station on foot around 7:15 PM. After a police relevance was ruled out, the 30-year-old left the police station. It was then noticed that the person got into a car at the end of the street. A subsequent check revealed a breath alcohol level of 0.34 per mille in him. The problem was that the driver had only had a driver's license since the end of last year and is therefore still in the probationary period. A measurement using a legally valid method showed a value of 0.2 per mille, resulting in a regulatory offense procedure according to § 24c StVG. He is likely facing a fine of 250 euros, one point, and an extension of his probationary period.

A 26-year-old Polish woman was also subjected to a general traffic check. Here, an alcohol test showed a value of 0.91 per mille. The lady caught the officers' attention shortly before 11:00 PM in traffic. She was then taken to the Barth police station for a legally valid measurement. She will have to answer in the context of a regulatory offense procedure in the future, she is most likely facing a fine of 500 euros, two points, and a one-month driving ban in Germany.

Around 11:30 PM, a 36-year-old Latvian man appeared at the station to pick up his Polish acquaintance from the precinct. Since the man arrived in a motor vehicle and the officers on site noticed physical abnormalities, a drug preliminary test was to bring certainty. This showed a positive result for cocaine. A blood sample was then taken from him at the Ribnitz-Damgarten hospital.
