She paid via a payment service provider. However, a higher amount was listed on her statement. Therefore, she called the operator of the original online shop. There was no order there. The attempt to get back to the fake shop page where she had placed her order failed. The call leads nowhere. All this points to a scam. The methods of the fraudsters are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Their shops are indistinguishable at first glance from real, reputable offers. However, the victims are surfing through a virtual illusion world. The fraudsters invent shop names or steal real company names. They often score with unbeatably low prices. This makes the victims careless. Initially, all payment options are offered. However, at the end of an order process, prepayment is often the only option left. Another indication of fraud: Fake pages often adorn themselves with various seals. Such seals are usually linked and clickable and should lead to the pages of the seal issuers. If nothing happens when you click on these seals, it could be a fake shop. If you are unsure, you should search the internet for relevant lists and look for your shop there.
