Investigations by the Lörrach Main Customs Office revealed that the man, who has since been convicted, made earnings of around 59,000 euros with his transport business between September 2021 and May 2023. The 42-year-old had concealed this income from the Jobcenter despite his obligation to report. At the same time, he was receiving benefits from the Freiburg Jobcenter, from which he unjustly received unemployment benefits amounting to almost 19,000 euros during this period.
The Freiburg District Court found the man guilty and sentenced him to seven months probation for fraud. The benefits wrongly received from the Jobcenter will certainly be reclaimed.
