FW Leichlingen: Smoke detector prevents kitchen fire

At 13:51, the fire brigades from the city center and Oberschmitte were alerted to a triggered home smoke detector in a multi-family house on Brückenstraße. A neighbor noticed the beeping smoke detector and dialed the emergency number.
Upon arrival of the fire department, the reported situation could be confirmed. Just in time, the fire department was able to gain access to the apartment and prevent worse.

The apartment was filled with smoke. Burnt plastic on the stove was the trigger for the beeping smoke detectors.

The fire department moved the burnt plastic outside and then ventilated the apartment with a high-performance fan.

The fire department was on site with about 20 emergency personnel. No one was injured in the operation. The operation was completed after a good hour.
