Increased fraud attempts through shock calls

On the course of January 17, 2025, there were numerous so-called shock calls in Frankenthal and Bobenheim-Roxheim. Unknown callers falsely identified themselves as officials and pretended to be in an emergency situation involving alleged relatives.
Through skilled conversation, the callers tried to unsettle the victims and demanded money or valuables during the course of the call. The perpetrators were not successful, all victims recognized the attempted fraud early and ended the call.
