The criminal police are asking for help: Has anyone noticed anything suspicious? Have any people or vehicles been noticed in the area?
The investigators are looking for witnesses and ask for information to the criminal police at the phone number 0641/7006-6555.
Wettenberg: Cause of fire remains unclear (follow-up report)
After the fire of a warehouse in Wißmar on January 10th (see alsohttps://www.presseportal.de/blaulicht/pm/43559/5948382), a fire investigator from the Gießen criminal police, with the support of experts from the state criminal police office, examined the fire site yesterday. An exact cause of the fire could not be determined due to the degree of destruction at the fire site. However, the investigations did not reveal any indications of a criminal act.
Gießen: Fraudulent craftsmen on the move
In Gießen, fraudsters appeared yesterday. A group of several people, traveling in a blue Mercedes Vito with Polish registration, pressured a resident around 1.20 pm in Anger to have work done on his gutter. Afterwards, they forcefully demanded exorbitant prices for the work, which was usually not professionally done. Thanks to an attentive witness who became aware of the situation, there was no significant financial damage. The individuals (at least three) left before the arrival of the emergency services.
Witnesses who can provide information about the individuals or the license plate of the Mercedes are asked to contact the Gießen Süd police station at the phone number 0641/7006-3555.
The police strongly advise to vehemently reject similar offers at the door. Inform yourself and only hire reputable, renowned craft businesses for upcoming work. If possible, note down the license plates of the vehicles of the alleged craftsmen and report the situation to the local police station (which one is responsible for you, you can find here:https://www.polizei.hessen.de/meine-polizei-vor-ort/). If you suspect a fraud attempt or if the individuals behave aggressively, call the police immediately, if necessary also via the emergency number 110!
