FW Pforzheim: Attic Fire

At approximately 11:20 AM, there was an attic fire in the Büchenbronn district. Upon the arrival of the fire department, the upper floor and the attic of a single-family house were fully engulfed in flames.
There were no people inside the building. While the fire on the upper floor could be quickly brought under control, fighting the fire in the attic proved difficult. Due to the risk of collapse, it was not possible to enter this area, so the roof had to be extensively opened for firefighting. After the firefighting, extensive extinguishing work followed, which could only be carried out from the outside via two turntable ladders. The building is no longer habitable. One person was able to leave the building on their own before the fire department arrived. They were slightly injured while attempting to extinguish the fire. The operation was still ongoing as of 5:00 PM, with cleanup work currently underway. In the next few hours, further follow-up checks will be carried out using a turntable ladder. Due to the risk of collapse, the adjacent street areas will remain closed until further notice. The city's winter service spread road salt in the vicinity of the operation site, as the extinguishing water led to icy roads due to the frozen ground.

The professional fire brigade and the volunteer fire brigade were on duty with the departments Brötzingen-Weststadt, Haidach, Dillweißenstein, Büchenbronn, Huchenfeld, Eutingen and Hohenwart, with a total of 90 emergency personnel and 21 vehicles.

In parallel, another operation in the city area was handled by units from the Eutingen department and off-duty personnel from the professional fire brigade.
