This morning, a container ship collided with the lock control system of the South Lock in Brunsbüttel, causing property damage. The water police are investigating.
At 09:10 AM, a container ship sailing under the Cypriot flag was heading from the Elbe to the South Lock in Brunsbüttel. Upon entering the South Lock, the ship collided with the lock control system. Even a backward towing connection could not prevent the collision.

Minor property damage occurred to the ship in the form of large-scale paint abrasions on the starboard bow. At the lock control system, a rubbing timber tore from its anchorage and the first dolphin bundle, including the lighting, suffered severe damage. Debris was scattered in the fore harbor. Employees of the Waterways and Shipping Office collected it.

The BG-Verkehr ordered a travel ban until class confirmation. There were no personal injuries, no water intrusion, and no leaking operating materials. The investigations of the Brunsbüttel water police station are ongoing.
