There, the store detective (48 years old) had observed a man who was very conspicuously looking at various laptops. The man, who lives in Wuppertal (57 years old), took a laptop from the shelf and put it in his shopping trolley (rolling suitcase) that he had brought with hi He stowed the laptop deep in his trolley and covered it with other items. He then left the store without paying for the laptop (value: 1649 euros).
After being approached by the witness and the involvement of the police, it was found that the trolley was specially prepared. The interior was lined with aluminium foil, among other things, to prevent the triggering of security devices.
The man from Wuppertal stated that he intended to finance his drug use with the theft or subsequent sale of the laptop. After consultation with the public prosecutor's office, he was released from police custody. The laptop was left in the store. (tr)
