At around 1:30 pm, the federal police in Cologne were asked for assistance following a shoplifting incident at the main train station. The security officer present told the officers that he had observed a man and a woman each putting four bottles of perfume into their respective jacket pockets and then leaving the store. He was able to detain both individuals after they left the premises and bring them to the office.
The responding officers identified both individuals at the scene. They were not unknown: both the 37-year-old Lithuanian and the 30-year-old German were known for property-related offenses. For further implementation of the criminal procedural measures, the police officers took both suspects to the station. After completing these measures, they arrested the homeless individuals and took them to the police custody. The thieves now have to answer for a particularly serious case of theft before a judge.
