Apartment uninhabitable after fire

At around 2:50 pm, the Dortmund Fire Department received an emergency call from Braunschweiger Street. There was reportedly smoke coming from the window of a ground floor apartment.
The first firefighters to arrive found a crowd of people outside the building. The residents of the house had already evacuated themselves and were all unharmed. The fire department's efforts were therefore focused on extinguishing the fire on the ground floor. To this end, a team entered the affected apartment with heavy breathing apparatus and extinguished the burning furniture. Additional forces checked the stairwell and the apartment above. The fire was confined to the burning apartment. This is currently uninhabitable. Fortunately, the other apartments were not affected. The operation was able to be completed after about an hour. Two fire brigades were involved in the operation, including the 25th fire brigade (Eving) of the volunteer fire department, the rescue service and the management service with a total of 40 operational forces.
