The commercial complex is used by various companies, including a parcel delivery service, a car repair shop and several large vehicles are affected. In total, 1500sqm of area was destroyed by the flames.
No one was injured in the operation, affected residents have the opportunity to stay at the scene in a bus provided by the Wuppertal City Utilities.
Due to the large amount of smoke, the NINA warning app was triggered, the smoke moved in the direction of the Ennepe-Ruhr district. Measurements taken in the affected area showed no elevated concentrations of pollutants. It is still recommended to keep windows closed.
A gritting vehicle from the Wuppertal Municipal Street Cleaning Service (ESW) is removing the forming ice surfaces at the scene. Approximately 130 responders are still tied up at the scene into the night.
