On early Saturday afternoon, a consequential mix-up occurred in Arnstadt. An 84-year-old motorist attempted to park in the parking lot of a supermarket in Arnstadt, Prof.
-Frosch-Straße. In doing so, he confused the gas pedal with the brake pedal in his Mercedes. As a result, the retiree's car accelerated abruptly and drove into the shopping cart garage.
Both the car and the garage were damaged, as well as several shopping carts. As if that wasn't enough, several shopping carts were set in motion by the impact and collided with other vehicles parked in the parking lot. This also resulted in accident-related property damage.
An estimated total damage of approximately 13,000 euros was incurred.
