Room fire in Flingern - Fire brigade extinguished flames, no injuries

Thursday, January 16, 2025, 11.04 am, Kettwiger Straße1, Flingern SüdOn Thursday morning, the emergency services of the Düsseldorf Fire Department extinguished a room fire in a multi-family house on Kettwiger Straße. The firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within 10 minutes.
No one was injured by the flames. Following the firefighting, the emergency services carried out extensive ventilation measures. Police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire.

At around 11 am, the Düsseldorf Police informed the control center of the Düsseldorf Fire Department about a room fire on Kettwiger Straße. Just two minutes later, the first emergency services arrived at the scene and were able to identify a room fire on the 3rd floor of a multi-family house. Firefighting was immediately initiated by a fire brigade inside the building and the turntable ladder was positioned in front of the building as a precaution. The fire brigade could not find any people in the smoke-filled apartment, so the firefighters focused on extinguishing the flames. Just ten minutes after arriving at the scene, the incident commander was able to report "Fire under control" to the fire department's control center. Subsequently, the emergency services ventilated the apartments on the 3rd floor and checked the adjacent residential units for the spread of fire and smoke. The emergency services were quickly able to give the all-clear: The adjacent apartments were not affected by the fire. As a precaution, employees of the Düsseldorf Network Company shut off the electricity and gas supply to the affected apartment. The police have started work to investigate the cause of the fire. After about 90 minutes, the last of the approximately 20 emergency services returned to their bases.
