BPOL NRW: International Arrest Warrant; Federal Police arrest 31-year-old on Highway 3 during border checks

The Federal Police arrested a 31-year-old Hungarian on the A3 motorway at the Wittenhorst rest area early on Friday morning, 17th January 2025 at 02:00 am, as part of border controls upon entry from the Netherlands in a passenger car registered in the Netherlands. The investigative check of the personal data revealed a search in the European search system by Croatia for arrest.

The authorities were looking for him for extradition due to arrest based on a European arrest warrant for economic crime. Furthermore, during the search of the backpack carried, a switchblade with a blade length of 9.3 cm was found. The person was arrested and taken to the Federal Police Inspection Kleve for further processing. After completion of the police measures at the station, the Hungarian was handed over to the bailiff of the Kleve District Court.
