Burning rubbish causes smoke development

This afternoon, the fire department was alerted to a fire in a vacant industrial complex on Lürriper Straße. Several callers had previously reported smoke coming from the industrial complex.
The arriving emergency services were able to locate the source of the smoke after extensive exploration. Inside one of the vacant halls, rubbish was burning. The fire was quickly extinguished by a team wearing breathing apparatus using a C-hose. Subsequently, the emergency services ventilated the affected hall using two high-performance fans.

Fortunately, there were no personal injuries in this operation. For the duration of the operation, Lürriper Straße in the area of the operation site was closed by the police.

The fire and rescue service of the Fire and Rescue Station I (Neuwerk), an ambulance, the police and the command service of the professional fire brigade were in operation.

Incident commander: Fire Officer Andreas Jäger
