Arrest after car chase

Press release from the Schwalm-Eder Police Directorate dated 17.01.2025:BorkenThursday, 16.01.2025, 10:46 amOn Thursday morning, a car driver fled from the police and tried to evade a police check. A patrol of the Regional Traffic Service Schwalm-Eder noticed a VW Touran at 10:46 am in the city area of Homberg (Efze), in the area of Kasseler Straße.

At the time of detection, the vehicle was occupied by one person. When the police patrol wanted to stop and check the car a little later, the driver of the vehicle accelerated and fled via a cycle path and adjacent field paths in the direction of Borken. In Gombether Straße in Borken, the driver continued his flight on foot. The officers managed to catch up with the fugitive on foot and subject him to a check. It turned out that the driver was a 55-year-old man from the Schwalm-Eder district who did not have a driving license. Furthermore, there was suspicion that the driver was operating the VW under the influence of narcotics.

The man was taken to the Homberg police station for further processing. There, a blood sample was taken, and the vehicle keys were temporarily seized by the officers.

In addition to the violations of the driving license regulations, the Narcotics Act, and the associated operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating substances, the 55-year-old will also have to answer for the suspicion of illegal motor vehicle racing.
