Eleven criminal proceedings initiated on site / Further checks to followKrefeld / Mönchengladbach - 14 arrests, eleven new criminal proceedings initiated on site, and several more proceedings initiated for various offenses are the result of an audit under the Act to Combat Undeclared Work by the Financial Control of Undeclared Work of the Krefeld Main Customs Office, supported by forces of the Traffic Routes Control Unit yesterday in Mönchengladbach, where several local logistics companies were checked. All persons encountered were recorded in terms of their personal details and employment relationships.

Thirteen of these were Chinese nationals, one person held Nepalese nationality. Criminal proceedings were initiated against eleven of those arrested for illegal residence in connection with taking up employment without the necessary residence permit. In addition, three more proceedings were initiated for taking up employment without the necessary residence permit. One person encountered was already wanted for arrest. Further criminal proceedings were initiated against the employer for withholding and embezzling wages. The further investigations are being conducted by the responsible public prosecutor's office.
