Previously, a 77-year-old woman (the victim) had been called by a supposed bank employee. He had pretended that there was going to be an unauthorized withdrawal from her account. To check this, she would now have to hand over her debit card and PIN to an employee. After she had actually handed over her card and PIN to a collector, the card was subsequently used at an ATM at a bank in Düsseldorf Benrath to withdraw cash. As a result of the crime, the victim suffered financial damage amounting to 1,000 euros.
In the course of the investigation, images from a surveillance camera in the bank were finally obtained. In the images, a young woman with dark hair was identified as a suspect.
Information is requested to be sent to the Criminal Investigation Department 31 at telephone number 0211 - 870-0.
