25-year-old in custody after apartment burglary
Following a residential burglary in Herne-Wanne in the early hours of January 14, a 25-year-old suspect was arrested. The man is currently in custody.
According to current knowledge, residents of a multi-family house on Heidstraße were awakened around 0.35 am by loud banging noises. When they checked, they discovered the broken front door and the fleeing burglar.
The residents pursued the suspect and were able to detain him in the backyard. When the alerted police officers arrived at the scene a short time later, they provisionally arrested the man.
The 25-year-old, known to the police, without a fixed address, was presented to a magistrate on the afternoon of January 15, who ordered pre-trial detention.
The further investigations are ongoing.
