Achern - Senior Woman Deceivably Cheated

An 89-year-old woman fell victim to a cunning scam on Tuesday afternoon. According to her account, a man aged between 30 and 40 rang her apartment doorbell at around 1 pm, claiming to be an employee of a care service.
Under the pretext of wanting to check suspicious withdrawals from the senior's account, the stranger was able to persuade the woman to hand over her bank card and PIN. The man, who was about 170 centimeters tall with black hair and a receding hairline, then left the apartment and withdrew 1,000 euros from an ATM on Hauptstraße a few minutes later. The officers of the Achern/Oberkirch police station have initiated investigations for embezzlement and fraud and urge caution.
