During the check, the reported car could be located at the intersection of the road to the western bypass. It was standing with the engine running and the hazard lights on in the turning lane.
During the check of the 54-year-old man from Sudheim, a strong smell of alcohol could be detected. In a voluntary breath alcohol test at the Northeim police station, the man blew over 2.5 per mille. The man from Sudheim then claimed that a friend had been driving and not him, although this person could not be found on site and the 54-year-old was sitting in the driver's seat. Due to the overall circumstances and the suspicion of drunk driving, a blood sample was taken.
A later questioning of the friend revealed that he had not had any contact with the man from Sudheim that evening.
Furthermore, it was determined that the temporary license plates were not only expired, but also not issued for the driven vehicle. The license plates were seized.
The driver's license of the man from Sudheim was confiscated and the car keys were seized.
