Drunk driving ends in custody cell

Gera: A 43-year-old man was driving his car on Lindenstraße in Gera on Monday evening (13.01.2025) at around 11:20 pm. Here he encountered a 57-year-old car driver, whom he suddenly threatened and insulted.
After a short drive, the 43-year-old threatened another passer-by (m/32) on Wiesestraße. Both victims meanwhile noticed the smell of alcohol from the suspect and informed the Gera police. They were able to identify the intoxicated 43-year-old while he was driving. A breathalyzer test showed a value of 2.29 per mille. He was consequently taken to a hospital for a blood test. The accused wanted to resist this measure, which led to resistance in the hospital. As he continued to behave aggressively after the blood sample was taken, he was finally taken into custody. He now has to face criminal charges for drunk driving, threats, and resistance against enforcement officers. In addition, he no longer has a driver's license. (AK)
