BPOL NRW: Federal Police execute two arrest warrants at the train station in Emmerich

The Federal Police arrested two individuals wanted on arrest warrants at the train station in Emmerich as part of border controls on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.In the first case, a patrol checked a 28-year-old Iraqi on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 pm after entering from the Netherlands on Regional Express 19. A comparison of personal data in the police databases revealed that he is wanted by the public prosecutor's office in Hildesheim on an arrest warrant for fraud. Accordingly, the convicted person still has to pay a fine of 740 EUR or serve a remaining prison sentence of 37 days.

The Iraqi was then arrested on the spot and taken to the Federal Police Inspection in Kleve for further processing. After the police measures at the station were completed, the Federal Police delivered him to the prison in Kleve to begin his sentence, as he could not pay the required fine.

In the second case, the Federal Police checked a 39-year-old Croatian woman late in the evening at 11:10 pm. The search-like check of personal data revealed that she is wanted by the public prosecutor's office in Magdeburg with an enforcement arrest warrant for tax evasion. Here, the convicted person still had to pay a fine of 1775 EUR or serve a prison sentence of 71 days. The woman was arrested and after the police measures at the station were completed, she was taken to the Willich II correctional facility to begin her sentence, as she could not raise the fine.
