Two reported apartment fires with several people injured by smoke gases within an hour

According to the callers, several people were still in the apartments above at that time. Upon arrival of the fire department, some residents of the affected property were already standing on the opposite side of the street. They were able to escape to the outside on their own, but had inhaled some smoke gases when leaving the house. The affected residents were examined and medically treated by the emergency service. As a precaution, a total of eight residents, including 3 children, were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The fire involved a stroller that was parked in the hallway of the ground floor and was fully ablaze. For firefighting, the Krefeld Fire Department deployed a team under heavy respiratory protection with a C-hose and another team under heavy respiratory protection to control the stairwell and upper floors. The emergency personnel of both professional fire stations, the Fischeln volunteer fire brigade of Krefeld, and the emergency service of the city of Krefeld were alerted.

Only a short time later, the Krefeld control center was notified of another residential fire. At 15:21, a caller reported a residential fire on the street "Am Schwarzkamp" in Krefeld. Immediately, both units of the Krefeld professional fire brigade and the Traar unit of the Krefeld volunteer fire brigade were alerted and dispatched to the incident address. Upon arrival at the scene, the emergency personnel found that an annex of a double garage was fully ablaze. To prevent the flames from spreading to the two residential houses and the double garage, the Krefeld Fire Department simultaneously deployed two teams under heavy respiratory protection, each with a C-hose. All present residents were able to leave their houses unharmed before the arrival of the fire department. In both cases, the investigative authorities have begun their work to determine the cause of the fire.
