Since the homeless man had neither paid the required sum of 1,680 euros (plus court costs) nor complied with the summons to start his sentence, he was listed for arrest by the Bochum public prosecutor's office.
The federal police officers arrested the convicted man and took him to the federal police station at Bochum main station. On site, he was given the opportunity to inform a person about the situation. The young man then contacted a friend who agreed to pay the fine. By paying, the Kenyan was able to avoid a prison sentence of presumably 84 days and subsequently leave the station.
