BPOL-HH: Federal Police operation for the match in the 2nd Bundesliga Hamburger SV - 1. FC Cologne

The Federal Police Inspection Hamburg, reinforced by forces of the Federal Reserve Police Uelzen, was deployed on 18.01.2025 as part of a special organizational structure (BAO) with around 130 federal police officers for the football match between Hamburger SV and 1. FC Köln. The Volksparkstadion was sold out according to local knowledge with over 57,000 spectators.
"The particular challenge for the federal police forces was to prevent a confrontation or mixing of the rival fan groups in the railway police area."

About 1,100 fans of 1. FC Köln arrived by long-distance trains via Hamburg Central Station.

In addition, during the arrival phase, over 10,000 HSV fans used public transport, mainly via the S-Bahn stations Stellingen, Eidelstedt and Othmarschen to reach the stadium.

The arrival and departure phase in the railway police area went smoothly. There were no special incidents in the jurisdiction of the Federal Police.

"The cooperation with the Hamburg police forces and DB Security was once again very good in this football operation."
