Wietmarschen - Accident involving a large transport vehicle on the highway

On Thursday evening, there was a traffic accident involving a large transport vehicle on the A31 motorway in the direction of Emden. The 39-year-old driver and the 26-year-old operator of the trailing vehicle were driving a large transport vehicle approximately 90 meters long from the Ems-Vechte Ost rest area onto the A31 at around 9:52 pm.

The load was a blade for a wind turbine. The convoy was accompanied by an escort vehicle when entering the motorway. The 49-year-old driver of a VW recognized the large transport too late and collided with it. She was seriously injured and taken to the hospital by ambulance. The motorway was completely closed for several hours. The total damage is estimated at about 220,000 euros due to the heavily damaged load.
