Serious traffic accident on B 268 between Schmelz and Lebach

On the early afternoon of January 15, 2025, a severe car accident occurred on the B 268 between Schmelz and Lebach involving two cars. The two vehicles collided head-on in a long curve for reasons yet unknown.
The collision completely damaged both cars, and the occupants had to be rescued from their vehicles by emergency services, suffering severe and life-threatening injuries. Two injured were airlifted, and one injured was transported to nearby hospitals by ambulance.

The B 268 had to be closed between Schmelz and Lebach for several hours. The Saarbrücken public prosecutor's office has commissioned a report to reconstruct the accident.

The car accident was recorded by officers from the Lebach Police Inspection. Witnesses to the accident are asked to contact the Lebach police.
