At around 11.00 am, the police were informed about the unattended suitcase on a sidewalk in Roeckstraße. There were no clues about the owner. To rule out any danger to the citizens from the suitcase, police forces cordoned off the area between Krügerstraße and Rabenhorst street, and traffic was diverted from Heiligengeistkamp and Gustav-Radbruch-Platz. To eliminate any possible danger to residents, they had to temporarily leave their homes. The ordnance disposal service was also deployed.
A possible danger was ultimately not confirmed: After further investigations, the owner of the suitcase appeared at around 2.00 pm. He had left the suitcase on the street to give away. There were no dangerous items in the suitcase.
The police operation ended at 2:15 pm.
