In the jurisdiction of the Mannheim Police Headquarters, a temporary balance can be drawn on the police situation after the onset of icy roads in the early morning hours:A total of 36 weather-related accidents occurred. A previously verbally confirmed number of 42 accidents must therefore be corrected downwards, as the accident investigations carried out in six cases were able to rule out the previously assumed black ice as the cause of the accident.
The focus with 29 accidents was in the southern Rhein-Neckar district. Four accidents occurred in the city of Mannheim and three accidents in the city of Heidelberg. In most cases, fortunately, there were only material damages, but five times people were injured, three of them seriously and two slightly injured. The total damage is estimated at approximately 114,000 euros.
