On December 16, 2024, the handcuffs finally clicked: Three suspects aged 49, 30, and 25 were provisionally arrested in Backnang after they allegedly sold stolen goods to a gold dealer. In the subsequent search measures, extensive stolen goods from past burglary thefts were secured in the vehicle and in the apartment of the suspects, as well as at a gold trade in Backnang.
At the request of the Heilbronn public prosecutor's office, the three suspects of Albanian nationality were presented to the competent custody judge at the Heilbronn district court on December 17, 2024, who issued an arrest warrant for serious residential burglary theft and serious gang theft against the three accused and put it into execution. The three men were admitted to different correctional facilities. The gold dealer, who was initially also provisionally arrested and had come into the investigators' sights on suspicion of commercial fencing, was released after the police measures were completed.
There is suspicion that the suspects could be responsible for further burglaries in the Ludwigsburg district, in the neighboring Heilbronn district, and also in other federal states. The criminal police investigations are ongoing.
