Many accidents due to black ice

, the police had counted nearly 30 traffic accidents on Wednesday morning (January 15, 2025), most of which were due to road and weather conditions in West Palatinate - in some places it was icy. Many of the accidents occurred in the city area and in the district of Kaiserslautern. At least four people were injured.

Shortly after 7 a., emergency services received a call from Jahnstraße. On the route between Erfenbach and Wiesenthalerhof, a car had overturned. The car had previously collided with a bus, came off the road and ended up on its roof. The driver was slightly injured in the accident.

On Hohenecker Straße, a car ended up on the tracks around 8 a., causing the rail traffic to be temporarily interrupted. The driver suffered minor injuries, a passenger was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. The emergency service took care of the vehicle occupants.

A pedestrian was slightly injured by a traffic maneuver of a car driver on Gärtnereistraße. According to the current state of investigations, he fell when he stepped back from the turning car. There is no connection with the weather conditions according to the current state of investigation.

This morning there are traffic disruptions throughout West Palatinate, especially in the city and district of Kaiserslautern, due to icy roads. Several accidents have already occurred.
