250115-1-K Police apprehend fleeing scooter driver after pursuit - Driver had no driving license

Early on Wednesday morning (15th January), emergency services apprehended a suspected drug-influenced scooter driver (33) in Porz-Westhoven after a short pursuit. The 33-year-old attempted to evade a traffic check on the street "Am Westhover Berg" around 4.30 am and escape through inner-city streets in a residential area.

After he drove into a dead-end street in the Elisenstraße area and had to turn around, he grazed the now oncoming patrol car due to the narrow road and fell. After a short foot chase, the patrol team apprehended him behind a climbed-over garden fence.

The scooter driver had small amounts of synthetic drugs on him, was allegedly under the influence of narcotics, and does not possess a valid driving license. The police ordered a blood sample to be taken, secured the drugs, the scooter, and the keys, and filed corresponding reports. (cr/al)
