The two had felled a tree. To further process the trunk, the 48-year-old operated a mini excavator with a forestry grab. With the heavy equipment, the machine operator had moved the approximately 12-meter long and about 30 cm diameter thick tree trunk to the side. As the 24-year-old approached the trunk with a bend, it apparently started to roll. The helper was hit in the leg by the hardwood trunk and was seriously injured. The rescue service took the young man to a hospital. The Bad Schussenried police are now trying to determine exactly how this accident occurred. Any third-party fault can be ruled out.
