Presence Concept "Focus" - Emergency forces unimpressed by bad weather

Despite cold temperatures and occasional sleet, the focus controls continued in the second calendar week of the year 2025 in the downtown area.

Not only experience-oriented groups of people were considered worthy of control. At the start of the week, there were increased checks on vehicle drivers who illegally drove in the pedestrian zone in the area of Brückstraße and Kampstraße. After traffic-educational discussions and the collection of warning fines, these violations decreased.

On January 10, the video surveillance in Dietrich-Keuning-Park filmed two 20-year-olds from Münster and Werne selling drugs in the form of tablets. A few minutes later, the first police officers appeared on the scene to search the two men. After the seizure of drugs and cash, the two men were given a ban from the area. Instead of leaving the location, however, they decided to vandalize a construction site, insult the officers, and resist arrest. The consequence: They had to spend a night in police custody. Criminal charges were filed for illegal drug trafficking, property damage, insult, and resistance.

In total, the officers deployed in this weather-related quiet week filed ten criminal charges, initiated seven administrative offense proceedings, took five people into police custody, issued 30 bans from the area, and conducted 28 citizen conversations.

With the support of the state police forces of NRW, the Dortmund Police continues to successfully implement the Strategic Search and the Knife Concept as part of the presence concept "Focus" for more safety in downtown Dortmund.
