On January 7, 2025, at around 5:50 pm, a traffic accident occurred on Schledenhorster Straße in Hamminkeln, in which a 34-year-old pedestrian suffered fatal injuries. We reported:

Investigations commissioned by the Duisburg Public Prosecutor's Office revealed that the fatally injured 34-year-old man was significantly under the influence of intoxicating substances at the time of the accident.
The investigations are still ongoing.
