BAB 81/Korntal-Münchingen

A traffic accident on the federal highway 81 near Korntal-Münchingen caused a traffic jam on Tuesday morning (14.01.2025). A 62-year-old Mercedes GLC driver was traveling on the right lane of the BAB 81 towards Stuttgart around 7.45 am.
As he wanted to leave the highway at the Zuffenhausen junction, he was overtaken on the right by an unknown Skoda driver who illegally used the blocked hard shoulder. To avoid a collision with the Skoda, the 62-year-old aborted the lane change, steered back to the left, and had to brake to a standstill due to the high volume of traffic. A 27-year-old Mercedes A-Class driver following him could not stop in time and collided with the 62-year-old's car. The Skoda driver continued his journey without caring about the resulting damage amounting to approximately 13,000 euros in total. Both Mercedes had to be towed away. The 27-year-old suffered minor injuries in the collision and was taken to a hospital by the emergency services. The 62-year-old driver was also taken to a hospital by the emergency services, but according to current findings, he was not injured.

The investigations into the unknown Skoda driver are still ongoing.
