BPOL NRW: Federal Police arrest convicted thief at Hagen main station and seize knife and drugs

On Monday morning (13th January), federal police officers checked a man at Hagen's main train station. The examination of his person revealed that a public prosecutor's office had issued a warrant for his arrest.
In addition, he was carrying prohibited substances and a one-handed knife.

At around 10:10 am, federal police officers were on patrol at Hagen's main train station. During this time, they noticed a 39-year-old man and subjected him to a personal check. Investigations revealed that the Hagen public prosecutor's office had issued a warrant for the German citizen. The Hagen District Court had already convicted him in February 2023, for the theft of low-value items, to a fine of 90 daily rates of 15 euros each.

So far, the convicted person had neither responded to the summons to start his sentence, nor had he paid the required sum of 1,350 euros. For this reason, the Hagen public prosecutor's office had issued a warrant for his arrest.

The federal police officers arrested the German and took him to the station at Hagen's main train station. On site, the officers were able to definitively identify the man from Hagen using a fingerprint scan. During a search, the officers found a one-handed knife and a small amount of amphetamines on the 39-year-old.

The officers confiscated the substance and the dangerous object. They then took the wanted man to a correctional facility for an expected 90 days. He will also have to answer for violations of the Weapons and Narcotics Act.
