BPOL NRW: Federal Police arrest known criminal after theft at Cologne Central Station

On the evening of January 14, officers of the Federal Police solved a theft in a perfumery at Cologne's main train station. Around 8 pm, a 28-year-old Algerian is alleged to have taken a bottle of perfume from a shelf, put it in the bag of a so far unknown companion, and then left the store without paying for the item, together with this person.
The store detective was able to observe the incident and apprehend the young man at the exit while calling in the police.

The Algerian suspect was uncooperative when encountered and also during the entire police action, making it difficult for the officers to establish his identity. The uniformed officers took the homeless man to the station and temporarily arrested him.

In this case, the suspect stole a bottle of perfume worth about 130 euros. However, he was not unknown: The man had recently been released from a correctional facility where he had served a prison sentence for robbery.

The police-known individual now has to answer for his actions in court again.
