As it could not be ruled out that the suspect was in possession of a firearm, the alerted patrol crews of the Fürth Police Inspection precautionarily closed off Gustav-Schickedanz-Straße to traffic and notified the special task force (SEK).
At around 09:00, the special task force gained access to the relevant apartment and arrested the 49-year-old suspect. During this, the officers secured a blank firing pistol. No one was harmed during the operation.
Gustav-Schickedanz-Straße was closed to vehicle traffic from 08:00 to approximately 09:30 due to the police operation. This also affected public transport stops.
The responsible specialist department of the Fürth Criminal Police is now conducting further investigations to clarify the underlying facts.
