Vehicle driver tries to escape police control

On Sunday (12.01.2025), a 37-year-old driver from Salzhemmendorf tried to evade a vehicle check by the police at around 7:40 pm. After the driver of a Seat Toledo spotted the patrol car on Bahnhofsweg in Salzhemmendorf, he accelerated the vehicle and continued his journey despite clear stop signals from the police officers on duty, all the way to the village of Thüste.
At times, the driver reached a speed of over 150 km/h. The man's 15-year-old son was in the vehicle as a passenger. The man from Salzhemmendorf continued his journey to his home address and initially fled into the house with his son. However, the door was opened by the man's wife, allowing the officers on duty to check the people at the home address. On site, the officers from the Bad Münder police were able to determine that the license plates on the vehicle did not belong to it and it was not registered. In addition, the driver did not have a valid driving license. The man now has to face various criminal proceedings. He has to answer for illegal car racing, driving without a license, forgery of documents and violation of the compulsory insurance law.
