70,000 Euros in Balcony Fire
(lei) Late Sunday evening, the fire department and police were called to a fire on Brüder-Grimm-Straße in Mainflingen. At 22:45, a fire broke out on the balcony of a two-family house.
Three residents remained unharmed. The fourth - a 63-year-old resident who had alerted the emergency services - was temporarily taken to a hospital on suspicion of smoke inhalation, as he had previously attempted to extinguish the fire himself.
Due to the heat development, a window to the living room burst, allowing flames and smoke to penetrate into the upstairs apartment, which is now temporarily uninhabitable. The damage is estimated at around 70,000 euros. After the firefighting operations, some hotspots were created, so the fire site had to be guarded by the fire department afterwards.
The cause of the fire is still unclear, according to initial estimates by the police, it could have been a technical defect of a device operated on the balcony. Investigations into this are ongoing.
