Police seek witnesses after drunk driving and possible endangerment of road traffic

On January 17, 2025, at 10:38 a. m.
, the police were notified of a suspiciously driven car (Ford Focus, silver color) on the BAB 1, near the AK Saarbrücken. The car continued on the BAB 8 in the direction of Saarlouis and was finally stopped and checked by officers from the Neunkirchen Police Station and the Illingen Police Station. The 38-year-old driver from the Saarlouis district was significantly intoxicated and did not have a driving license. He was prohibited from continuing his journey. A blood sample was taken from the driver and an investigation was initiated on suspicion of drunk driving and driving without a license. A witness had previously observed the driver driving his car on the BAB 1, at the AS Illingen, against the direction of traffic, on the acceleration lane or the ramp. After a U-turn over the green strip and briefly driving on the Illingen exit, the car drove back onto the BAB 1, in the direction of AK Saarbrücken.

The police ask that road users who observed the car at the relevant time or were possibly endangered by it, report to the Neunkirchen Police Station or the Illingen Police Station.
