On Wednesday and Thursday, 15th and 16th January, the Hamm police therefore carried out targeted checks on Hafenstraße with the focus on "distraction at the wheel". The result is both shocking and sobering: a total of 27 drivers used their smartphone while driving. They can expect a fine of 100 euros, administrative fees and a point in Flensburg.
A mobile phone at the wheel can quickly become a deadly danger. Distraction, along with excessive speed and alcohol and drugs, is one of the causes of serious and most serious traffic accidents.
The police therefore appeal to all road users to consistently avoid distraction and to fully concentrate on the road traffic.(hei)
