"The fundamental right to peaceful assembly, the right to freedom of expression and the right to self-determination are high values that we take very seriously. We only impose restrictions after careful examination and only when we consider an immediate threat to public safety during an assembly as likely," clarified Police President Alexandra Dorndorf. "Through the ordered restrictions, we fulfill our legal mandate."
The Münster Police ordered the changed route planning for the car parade, among other things, to avoid blocking the access and exit routes for rescue services and the fire brigade along the originally targeted route. At the same time, the new route is intended to help manage the expected high traffic volume in the city center area and avoid significant traffic disruptions. Because in addition to the car parade, other major events are taking place in Münster on Saturday.
The Münster Police issued the rejection as assembly leader and the speaking ban against the 56-year-old man from Hagen based on relevant police findings, as the reporter had repeatedly appeared at assemblies with different slogans and statements in violation of the law.
