Apartment fire in Ettlingen called for fire department

A fire in an apartment in Ettlingen kept the forces of the fire department, emergency services, and police busy on Thursday morning. The Integrated Control Centre in Karlsruhe was alerted to a fire developing in a room of an apartment occupied by two children via an emergency call.
1 child was spotted by the emergency services. The Ettlingen Fire Department was alerted at 06:51 AM with the operation keyword "Fire - Human life specifically in danger" to the Ettlingen Schleinkoferstraße. The Malsch Fire Department was also alerted for command support. The first arriving emergency services found a child, guided them out of the danger zone and checked for injuries. Another child had already left the apartment building. Upon arrival of the fire department, firefighters with breathing apparatus extinguished the burning apartment rooms on the 4th floor. Other firefighters evacuated all apartments in the residential building. The alerted turntable ladder was also put into position. By 07:30 AM, further operational teams with breathing apparatus were busy with extinguishing work. A thermal imaging camera was used to locate possible embers. Afterwards, the affected apartment was ventilated.

The Ettlingen Fire Department was on duty with the Kernstadt department and the Tal fire brigade association with 8 vehicles and 40 forces under the command of Commander Martin Knaus. The emergency service was under the organizational leadership of Scott Gilmore with an emergency doctor's vehicle and two ambulances at the scene. Three patrol car crews from the Ettlingen police station were also on duty. No information can currently be provided on the extent of the damage caused.
