Traffic accident with injured child

On January 14, 2025, at 2:07 pm, the Mayen Police were informed by the Integrated Control Center of the DRK Koblenz about a traffic accident at a kindergarten in Polch. On site, the deployed police officers determined that a 41-year-old driver from VG Maifeld was driving his car, a Ford, at walking speed past the kindergarten.
A one-year-old girl suddenly ran sideways against the vehicle at the level of the front wheel arch, the driver rolled over the toddler's foot in the process. The child was taken to a hospital in Koblenz by the DRK, where further examinations revealed that, fortunately, the girl was only slightly injured. A criminal proceeding for negligent bodily harm in road traffic was initiated against the driver.
