Phone scam artists steal cash

Telephone scam artists swindled several thousand euros from an elderly woman on Hattenbühl Street on Monday (13.01.2025). An unknown man called the elderly woman around 11.30 am, posing as a police officer.
He convinced the woman that she had become a target of criminals and that her cash and valuables were no longer safe, and she should prepare them. Around 2.30 pm, an accomplice of the caller appeared and took the cash. Under the pretext of needing to check it, the unknown person disappeared. The collector is about 25 to 30 years old and approximately 160 centimeters tall. He had a normal build, a dark full beard, and dark, medium-length hair. He arrived in a white compact car for the collection. Witnesses are asked to contact the criminal police at +4971189905778.

Police prevention tips:

The police will never ask you for money.

The police will never call you from the police emergency number 110. Only scammers do that. If you are unsure, dial 110. But do not use the redial button, as you may end up back with the scammers, but dial the number yourself. You can also contact your local police station. Tell the officers about the calls. It is best if you have the number of your local police and the emergency number 110 handy by the phone so that you can dial it yourself in case of doubt.

Never discuss your personal and financial circumstances on the phone.

Do not let yourself be pressured on the phone. Don't give scammers a chance, just hang up. That's the only way to get rid of scammers. It's not rude at all!

You should hang up if:
